A private firearm inventory, and a stolen-gun check for law enforcement
Keep your firearms on record without handing over who you are. Report a gun lost or stolen, and verified agencies see that status when they run the serial, never your name.
What we don’t store is the point
GunRegistry.us stores no owner name, address, phone number, email, or date of birth, and nothing that links an account to a firearm. Your personal details and your inventory are encrypted in your browser before they leave it. We only hold a plain serial number once a gun is reported lost or stolen, or once a dealer records it.
For owners
Private inventory vault
Make, model, serial, purchase info, notes, and your own details, encrypted in your browser. We can’t read it.
Report lost or stolen
Publish a report for just that gun. Its status becomes visible to verified agencies who look up the serial.
Mark it recovered
Got it back? Post a recovered report and clear your own lost or stolen status.
Transfer when you sell
Mark a gun sold and hand the buyer a single-use transfer token. They claim it into their own vault.
No email, no reset link
Sign up with an alias and a master password. A recovery code is shown once for you to print.
Optional passkey
Add a passkey for a second factor at sign-in.
For law enforcement
Serial lookup
Run a serial and get back stolen, lost, or recovered, with the date, a report reference, and a contested flag. Nothing else.
Not an inventory search
Guns that are only in an owner’s inventory, sold, or unclaimed return “no lost/stolen report,” the same answer as an unknown serial. No owner, no “on file.”
Verified agencies only
Agencies apply and are verified by hand before they get an access key. Every search is logged, and keys are rate-limited.
For dealers
Record an acquisition
Send the manufacturer, model, serial, type, and caliber from your bound book and get back a claim token.
The buyer claims it
Put the token on the buyer’s paperwork. They redeem it into their own vault. You never send us the buyer.
Public dashboard
A public page shows totals only: firearms on file, dealer-recorded guns, owner reports, searches by web and API, guns added in the last 12 months, and active stolen and lost counts. No serial search, and no account numbers.
